Cort as Hirschorn

Stella was ok. A few funny moments. It would have been so cool to see Bud Cort play Dr. Hirschorn. Or B.B.

TV Tramp Woes or Austin Real World: The OC All Over Again

A few months ago I took pride in quitting The OC cold turkey. Well, I started watching it again. Now, the same goes with The Real World. The last one I watched was Vegas. Never say never. Austin has lured me back.

Oh and I've been known to watch Laguna Beach too. x_x

It was a really crappy day. Sometimes bad tv makes things feel a little better.

Office Horror Story/Stella Recap

A coworker told me an office horror story today. Her friend was sitting at a desk not unlike ours and felt something on her leg. It was a black widow spider. She tried to flick it away and was bitten. Egad! Needless to say I immediately crawled under my desk and completed a thorough inspection.

Tonite's Stella Ep: "I likes it. I likes it a lot."
I liked the slumber party the guys had (o.b. party tray!) and that they were growing produce from the floorboards of their apartment, all while still in their signature suits.

Often times, I am the most ridiculous item of the day.

A Catherine Keener Kind Of Weekend

And that's not too shabby. I packed in a lot of movie/tv action this past weekend. Shocker.

The Silver Screen

Two Catherine Keener movies-she is one of my favorites. She's at her best in Lovely and Amazing. Heck, she can even make dreck like The Interpreter seem watchable.

The Ballad of Jack and Rose
Well made and disturbing. Plus I liked the white trash Catherine Keener. Can't wait to see more from Rebecca Miller, who wrote/directed the equally engrossing Personal Velocity.

The 40 Year-Old Virgin
(Or "40 YO Virgin" as stated on the billboard at the local cineplex)
Such a sweet movie! And hilarious too. Steve Carell is so funny and endearing in this. I was also keen on the Paul Rudd factor. There were so many things I liked about this movie that I don't know where to begin. So I won't.

Oh, and I also saw Red Eye
Kind of felt like a tv movie, really. Rental.

The Small Screen

The Comeback
I like the new addition of Dan Bucatinsky as the agent. The barrage of fat jokes lately seem mean-spirited and kind of tired. Part of me is cool with it, though, since it is realistic. The diet coke was a nice touch.

Six Feet Under Finale: "Everyone's Waiting"
Nate to Claire: "You can't take a picture of this. It's already gone." Awesome.

I Had No Idea!

Degrassi Junior High

I had not a clue that Degrassi Junior High is available for rent or purchase on DVD. Yippie!

Janeane Garofalo on Stella! Cool glasses.

I'd like to say I won't be watching Battle of the Network Reality Stars, but I'd be lying. I'd flip if Neil from The Real World: London were a participant.

Awkward

Last night was possibly the most uncomfortable round of television ever. Between the skin-crawling incest fake-out on Six Feet Under and the super-icky Pamela Anderson Roast, I've had all the awkward I can handle. I was ready to bolt at any minute.

SFU: "Static"
This episode was just so well written and sad and beautifully shot.
Lauren Ambrose and Rachel Griffiths were incredible. Plus they played a song I happen to like a lot. I need to stop reading the spoilers for the series finale, though.

Roast: Funny Gals
Sarah Silverman - she's quite brassy
Bea Arthur's reaction shots - comedy gold!

8 Pt Find: Trader Joe's Pad Thai Noodle Bowl

Eight, count'em, eight "bonus" episodes are being produced for the final season of The Sopranos. That makes twenty in total. Take your goomahs out for a night on the town.

the fair (I love the smell of beer and b.o. and white shoulders in the mid-day sun)

Amie and I went to the fair the other day. Super fun. We established our agenda early on. Mine looked a little something like this:
=CrazyMouse
=Catherine Popesco earrings
=Cinnamon Roll

Highlights:
=Seeing Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. Very cool.

=The cutest couple was sitting in front of us at the concert. She looked sweet and he had that nice guy look - they'd make a darling ReadyMade cover. I'm certain they had arrived by either Vespa or Jetta or through some sort of Adrian Tomine portal (the same kind they use in the A-Ha "Take On Me" video). Anyway, Amie leaned in and told the gal that we were nominating them as the cutest couple at the fair. She laughed and told her sweetie. This all occurred when everyone was screaming for Petty's encore. The couple waved their arms and jumped around as though the crowd was cheering for them and their new "title." What good sports.

=CrazyMouse. So fun. I want to go to an amusement park soon.

Low Points:
=A run-in with a passive aggressive carnie

=One of the fair rides I was keen on as a kid was the Himalaya, with its blaring heavy metal. Well, now they play hip-hop.

=Amie lost her favorite hat, the green ballcap with the star

Shopgirl looks pretty decent, even with the Jason Schwartzman element. Based on my read of the book, I might have made different casting choices. Still up for it though.

Geeky and Loving It:
I just purchased the Serenity comics!

Bastard People

Finally some compensation for the Strangers With Candy/Squid and the Whale delays and the suckfest end of SFU. Waiting For Guffman is on, which always makes me happy. Parker Posey is grilling a single chicken wing. That got me thinking. When is the next faux Christopher Guest documentary coming out? I looked into it and there is a new one in the works called For Your Consideration. I know I'm probably fifty years behind on this, but it is exciting news to me. Bob Balaban and Ricky Gervais are listed as being in the cast. Hee!

Haphazard

I ran into the cutest (smart, funny, troubled) boy from high school. Of course within a minute the girl with the biggest boobs was mentioned. Some things never change.

I've become one of those ladies who wears sneakers with work attire. Next stop, shoulder pads. I need to watch Working Girl to get some ideas.

Save it for TWOP II/Alan's Got Two:
I can't believe the developments on SFU lately.

Word of the day:
Haphazard - great word
