wednesday filler

Dentist visit today. They let you pick out music to listen to, which is a nice option. I considered "Houses of the Holy" because it just seemed silly. I instead opted for the soundtrack to The Big Chill. I thought about the scenes in the movie where they frolic in the kitchen. Stared at the nice Alfred Sisley print. Wished I was in the locale of the print and not in the chair. Gripped the arms, hoping they would not hit a nerve. Was glad to leave.

Excellent Sopranos the other night:
-Loved Carm and Ro's trip to Paris.
-I miss Adriana. Glad we got a glimpse of her.
-"I loved him like a brother-in-law." Great line right there.
-Where's my Louis Vuitton stuffed with cash money?
-I find it hilarious that the TWOP people refer to Johnnycakes as "Spurlock"

I started watching American Idol when it got to the final six. It is great fun to discuss with my Mom and the ladies at work. Tonite was the finale. Awkward moments galore. I liked Paris Bennett, but my favorite by far was Elliot Yamin. He seems like a nice fellow.

Highlights:
-Elliot and Paris during the medleys.
-Taylor looking scared when Toni Braxton tried to get fresh with him during their duet.
-Katharine looking scared during the Meatloaf duet, although I have a feeling this was intentional, for theatrical Meatloaf song-singing purposes.
-Shot to David Hasselhoff in the audience crying.

I'll say it again: oh dear.

week at a glance

Saw Brick. Not bad.

Described the Monte Cristo sandwich to a group of horrified onlookers.

Used the expression "Not that I'd admit to it publicly" too much.

Determined that X3 looks a wee bit boring. They are really pimping it and it looks like it will be all action, no talk. Not that I won't be seeing it. Gambit?

Yep.

misc

Misc items for the week.....

Mr. T and Conan were cute together in Chicago.

I really do like those newish Apple commercials. The actor playing the Mac is a cute guy and I like how they still keep him dorky. I can't help but wonder if they tried to get Adam Brody for those spots.

Someone at the bookstore asked me for "How Opal Mehta Got Her Groove Back."

Mo Rocca was funny at times at the Kentucky Derby. I liked it when he wore the overalls, saddle shoes and kept saying "git-ir-done" in the guise of being white trash.

John Krasinki was charming on Leno. I liked the lawn dart story in particular, especially his emphasis on the word "sanitary."

Gilmore Girls finale: not too cool.

Expression I don't care for: "Ripped from the headlines."

Term I Really Do Like: Rehash
Rehashing is a fun way to pass the time.

wait, what?

"Casino Night" (the slightly more official Office recap)
-Written by Steve Carell

Scrantonicity!

Toby! Now my favorite secondary character.

Toby: Actually, I didn’t think it was appropriate to invite children, since it’s uh, you know, there’s gambling and alcohol, and it’s in our dangerous warehouse, and it’s a school night, and you know, Hooters is catering, and is that enough, is that enough, should I keep going …
Michael: Why are you the way that you are?

Toby: I don’t really play cards, but I’m not going to lie to you, it felt really good to take money from Michael. Gonna chase that feeling.

Darryl: Dinkin flicka

Michael: Chili's is great.

Ryan: One beer, and one 7 and 7 with eight Maraschino cherries, sugar on the rim, blended if you can.
Jim: So that’s still going on, huh, you and Kelly.

Dwight: "Codename Remax is here. No sign of Lan Jevinson."

All Things Pim
As I said before, loved it. I had a "wait, what?" moment with Pim in this episode. Sure enough, there were two sweeping romantic gestures. Jim declares himself to Pam. I was really thrown by this. I figured he'd tell Pam he was transferring to another branch, not that he, gulp, loves her. Wait, what? Unexpected. The scene goes from a sweet to sinking feeling in no time fast. The line where he says "I just needed you to know....once" is so moving. The facial expressions! The tears! The guy is heartsick in the worst way. And the end! The end was very lovely and ambiguous. For me this rates right up there with the best of the Tim/Dawn moments. (Tim takes off his microphone and goes after Dawn and gets rejected. The Christmas special when Dawn opens her secret santa gift and returns to the party for Tim.) Fischer and Krasinski were incredible. So very neat!

Well played. Can't wait till next season.

Loved it. More later. I'll soon be in a swoon-induced coma.

a bit concerned

I'm very much looking forward to The Office finale this week and a little worried too. I'm hoping for the usual funny and sad, a sweeping romantic gesture or two, a moment for each of the supporting cast members and at least one "that's what she said." A pretty tall order for a show that's too short to begin with.

"Conflict Resolution" was great. There was major upset with everyone, including Pim.

Favorite Moments:
-Oscar's heated argument against the babies playing jazz poster
-Pretty much anything with Toby
-Hussy (that word needs to come back in a big way, ho is so overdone)
-The complaint about Creed's distinct old man smell

This exchange was pretty good:
Pam: "I try not to bother him about this kind of stuff."
Jim: "You mean, like, your thoughts and feelings."
Pam: "Yeah."

Favorite Moments from "Drug Testing"
-Dwight: "I didn't become a Lackawanna County Volunteer Sheriff's Deputy to make friends....And I haven't."
-Jim tells Dwight he looks cute in his uniform.
-Kelly reassuring Jim that she wore a low-cut dress, but not too low-cut
-Jim's inability to tell the drug story
-Stanley impressions
-Hi
-"What is he getting out of that relationship?" Right.

**Jessica- Be sure to watch Krasinski on Leno tomorrow night.
